Welcome to La Sirena, a charming getaway tucked into a lush tropical garden, steps from the famous Rio Lajas Lagoon.

 

The property features a cozy one-bedroom house that accommodates up to three guests and a separate studio for two, perfect for solo travelers, couples, families or groups of friends seeking both connection and privacy.  The units can be rented together or separetely, with one week minimum stay.

 

Relax under the roofed social area, ideal for yoga, barbecues, or gatherings, while enjoying the vibrant surroundings. Two covered carports ensure convenience and shelter for your vehicles.

 

From both the house and studio, marvel at the majestic 100-year-old higuerón tree, a favorite hangout for playful monkey families. Scarlet macaws often grace the treetops, adding bursts of color and life to the serene setting.

La Sirena is located only a few steps away from the beach and the breathtaking Lajas River, 5 walking minutes from the surf breakpoint Los Reyes and 1.5 miles from Cabuya Center.

The one-bedroom house at La Sirena combines comfort with artistic charm.

 

It features a well equipped kitchen and living room area, a cozy bedroom with a double bed, and a bathroom. The living area includes a sofa that can be used as an additional bed, making it perfect for small families or groups. The house is equipped with A/C and Wifi.  

 

Outside, a private terrace with seating invites you to relax in the tropical breeze. There is also an additional cute bathhouse in the garden, with a toilet, bathub and many creative details. ​

The Studio

 

The studio at La Sirena is a cozy space perfect for a single guest or couple. This compact yet stylish studio offers all the essentials for a relaxing stay with a touch of comfort and convenience.

 

It features a small kitchen, a comfortable double bed, and a charming little terrace to enjoy the tropical surroundings. The studio is equipped with A/C and Wifi.

 

The bathroom and toilet are conveniently located separately outside, offering a functional and private setup.

The Common Area

 

The shared common area at La Sirena is designed for relaxation and connection. It features a roofed parking area for convenience and a spacious, covered seating space ideal for yoga, barbecues, or simply unwinding amidst the tropical surroundings.

 

Surrounded by lush gardens and vibrant wildlife, this inviting space is perfect for gatherings or moments of quiet reflection, creating a harmonious blend of comfort and nature.

There are kayaks available for our guests to use free of charge.

La Sirena is ideally located for exploring Cabuya.

 

Nestled in a safe, friendly neighborhood, just 200 meters from the beach and the breathtaking Río Lajas.

 

This quaint fishing village offers a delightful mix of charm and convenience, with two supermarkets, a fish market, and a handful of cozy restaurants. Treat yourself to fresh pastries from the local bakery or unwind at Calala Lodge, a cool beach club featuring a poolside restaurant, weekly movie nights, live music, and DJ parties.

 

Cabuya is a haven of peace, attracting young expat families and retirees who appreciate its natural beauty and tranquil vibe. While it’s not a party town, you’ll find occasional social events and yoga classes led by expert instructors in various styles.

You are able to experience a bit of the old couleur of Costa Rica that we found some
decades ago. This area in Cabuya is still pure and beautiful.

The perfect blend of adventure and tranquility.

 

Paddleboarding and kayaking are perfect for exploring the calm waters, including the picturesque Cemetery Island. Snorkelers will enjoy the rocky island’s marine life, while sportfishing enthusiasts can book tours with local fishermen. Surfers flock to the Los Reyes breakpoint (April–December) and all year round to nearby Santa Teresa. In dry season you can take the shortcut to get there, a stunning 30-minute drive through the scenic jungle.

Nature lovers will relish a hike through the renowned Cabo Blanco National Park or a swim in the Río Lajas which is steps away from the houses. From June to January, the river forms crystal-clear pools and natural jacuzzis; in the drier months, it transforms into a haven for bird watchers.

For a taste of lively hippy culture, visit Montezuma, just 3 miles away. This bohemian town offers a vibrant artesanal market, dining, and nightlife scenes.

GETTING THERE

Cabuya is located on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica.

By plane: From San Jose, take a domestic flight to Cobano with FlySansa or Green Airways, then it's 20 minutes by car or taxi. Budget car rental has an office at Cobano airport. 

By car: From San Jose, drive to Puntarenas (1h30), take the ferry to Paquera (1h15), and then continue to Montezuma (1 hr). 

Public transport: Take the direct bus from San Jose to Montezuma with Transportes Cobano (from Terminal 7-10). The bus gets on the ferry in Puntarenas and then continues. Total travel time 6 hours. From Montezuma take a mini bus or taxi to Cabuya.

 

Shuttle: There are daily shuttle services from many locations in Costa Rica to Montezuma available and alternatively, you can also catch a speed boat from Jacó to Montezuma Beach (reservation needed). From Montezuma take a mini bus or taxi to Cabuya.

 

If you arrive at Liberia Airport, you can either continue by shuttle or rental car. Taxis are quite expensive, it's a 4 hour drive.

GETTING AROUND

Having your own transportation is recommended but not necessary. Cars, ATVs and scooters/motorbikes are available for rent in the area.


The public bus from Montezuma to Cabuya stops at the corner a few times per day, and it takes you all the way to the Cabo Blanco Reserve.
